A sign language interpreter/translator is someone who can understand sign language and is able to communicate the language to those who cannot read sign language. The salary of a sign language interpreter depends on a number of factors, including your location, reputation, skill level and experience. Being involved with the deaf community helps sign language interpreters obtain more clients. Sign language interpreters can make anywhere from $10 per hour to $150 per hour, and work is usually part-time. This translates to a couple thousand a year to over $50,000 a year.
