Is Cream Cheese Healthy?

Cream Cheese is very popular, particularly when combined with Bagels -- one of the most popular brands being Philadelphia (Kraft). Cream cheese does, however, contain significant amounts of saturated fat. If too much cream cheese is consumed over a long period of time it can lead to heart disease or cardiovascular disease. We therefore recommend that you consider low-fat cream cheese, which is typically made from Neufchatel cheese, which contains less saturated fat. Another alternative is to consider yogurt-based products, which have a differrent flavor but similar consistency -- for example, Yoikos, which is available at Whole Foods. You should also check out our article on cream cheese.
