What is the Average Cost of living in Hawaii per month/year?

The average price for living in Hawaii follows mainland trends but is generally higher, estimated at 35% to 45% higher than most U.S. cities. Hawaii is an expensive state because of all the tourists in the area all year round. Utilities (gas, water, electric, telephone) are also higher than average. Housing is also more expensive. A studio apartment in Honolulu, for example, will cost at least $700 per month while a one bedroom furnished will cost upwards of $800. An unfurnished three bedroom home starts at $260,000 so be prepared to spend more.
