Brewsterite was first described in 1822 by Sir David Brewster and the locality of origin is Strontian, Argyll In Scotland. At the beginning it was recognized as a mineral species, but in 1997 a reclassification was made and it was changed to a series name. The mineral species are now named brewsterite-Sr and brewsterite-Ba . It can be found in a white, gray or yellow-white color, the crystals are prismatic and it is transparent to translucent. The price varies depending on the dimensions, but it can be bought for as low as $25 to $150.
