Bixbyite is a very rare mineral that was named after the mineralogist Maynard Bixby. It can not only be found in India, Utah, but also in Sweden and South Africa. It is popular among collectors, being associated with some other attractive minerals such as beryl, quarts or topaz. It has a high luster and it forms isometric crystals. Usually the crystals are very small, less than 1 centimeter wide and the color of the mineral is black. Bixbyite is under appreciated and often collectors pay an average price of $5 to $10 for one cm Bixbyite.
