What is Whole Wheat? Definition and Uses

With the newest fads all centered around organic food, the label whole wheat has seen some heavy usage recently. But what exactly does it mean? Whole wheat simply refers to the fact that the outer skin of the wheat is left in, adding bran and extra nutrients to the mix. Foods made from whole wheat flour tend to have a more earthy taste, a stiffer texture, and are usually higher in nutrients than their white flour cousins.
