Maize oil can be used in bakery goods, as cooking oil, in pharmaceuticals, mayonnaise, margarine, salads and soups. It is of a great benefit to the starch industry and a potential source of food for livestock. Maize oil contains large quantities of nutritionally balanced proteins. This means that costly protein supplements are no more required for livestock. It is easy to digest. Non-food uses of the oil include its use in ammunition, chemicals, rust prevention, soaps, textiles, paints. Some of the health benefits due to some of its unsaturated fatty acids include positive influence on growth, pregnancy, lactation and well being of the skin, kidney and liver functions.
