What is Duck Sauce? Ingredients and Uses

Duck sauce is a brown or orange transparent, jelly-ish condiment. It is most often used in Chinese-American restaurants and cooking. Duck sauce does not actually contain duck meat or products of any kind. Duck sauce is formed with a base of finely pureed fruit such as apples, apricots, peaches, or plums. Added to this are other ingredients such as sugar, vinegar, ginger, and chili. Duck sauce is most commonly used as a sweet dip for fried foods and as a seasoning for other dishes.
