What is Cyanocobalamin Used For? Health Benefits and Side Effects of Cyanocobalamin in Food

Cyanocobalamin is a synthetic form of vitamin B12 and is used to treat deficiencies of this vitamin in body. Vitamin B12 is essential for maturation of red blood cells, maintenance of nervous junctions especially needed for the cerebellum and for the development of body proteins. It also helps in the metabolism of fats and carbohydrates. Side effects include allergic reactions like skin rash, itching, swelling of face, tongue and lips, breathing problems, chest pain, tightness and diarrhea. Conditions where Cyanocobalamin can be used include Pernicious Anemia, Congenital Cobalamine Mal-absorption, Congenital Intrinsic Factor Deficiency, Ileal resection, Homocystenemia, Nutritional deficiency, and Transcobalamin ll deficiency.
