What is Coulrophobia the Fear of? Symptoms, Causes and Treatment
Coulrophobia is the fear of clown. It is mainly associated with childhood event. The trigger for development of this phobia is mostly a horror movie with an evil clown as its main character. When a person watches such a movie in childhood, it usually has so strong an impact on him that even days and month later, the child would wake up screaming from a dream about that horrifying clown. The provoking factor is the bright unrealistic makeup of the clown which does not necessarily entertain all children. Symptoms include shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, nausea, sweating and feeling of dread. Treatment is aided by psychological guidance and by watching movies in which clowns have played positive funny roles
