What is Cottonseed Meal Used For? Health Benefits and Side Effects of Cottonseed Meal in Food

Cottonseed meal is rich in proteins and is used for animal feed. It is used as a fertilizer and in the production of bakery items, mayonnaise, margarine and as cooking oil. It is also widely used in explosives, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, rubber, plastics, fungicides and insecticides. Cottonseed meal adds nitrogen to the soil. Health benefits include boosting of immunity, recovering from growth deficiencies and helping in effective metabolism. It is also used in the manufacturing of Penicillin antibiotic. Penicillin is a broad spectrum antibiotic acting against a large variety of gram positive and gram negative bacteria. It is also used a protein supplement. Side effects include pruritus, diarrhea, GI discomfort and regurgitation after meals.
