Cattail is a monocotyledonous flowering plant and is a member of family Typhaceae. Cattail is the American English name of the crop. It consists of a single joint less stem ending up in a flowering spike. Flowers are unisexual, fertilized by wind pollination. Seeds are minute. They are harvested from late autumn to early spring.
