Bhutanese Red Rice is medium sized grain rice grown in the Kingdom of Bhutan in Eastern Himalayas. It is reddish in color. It is cooked faster than brown rice. When cooked the rice is pale pink, soft and slightly sticky. United Stated imports it from Bhutan. It has a strong nutty flavor and firm texture. It cooks in about 20 minutes. It is rich in minerals, vitamins and fiber. It is an excellent substitute for brown rice. It contains many essential amino acids, folate, calcium, iron magnesium, and phosphorus.
