Acrophobia is the extreme fear of height. The cause can be one’s past bad experience or the influence of media. Symptoms are feeling of fear and extreme anxiety when a person is at mountain level height. Symptoms can also be triggered at the thought of being at high altitude or in an aero plane. Some common symptoms include restlessness, irritability, poor sleep and concentration. Other symptoms are dry mouth, chest tightness, breathlessness, palpitations, tremors and dizziness. It is treated by cognitive behavioral therapy, desensitization and benzodiazepines.
