Are the Twilight Vampires Based on History?

The question has often been asked but never fully answered: is Edward Cullen of the Twilight series based on historical figures? The answer is in fact yes. Edward Cullen is based on a composite of two historical people of note. The first and most obvious of these is that of Count Edvard Draculia. It was upon this The modern movie version of Count Draculia, a bit far from the facts. The modern movie version of Count Draculia, a bit far from the facts.Transylvanian count that the character Dracula was most likely first created. He suffered from the disease known by modern medical terminology as porphyric hemophilia, a rare disease that causes the skin to suffer a severe irritation when exposed to sunlight as well as an acute thirst that has been linked to a deficiency in blood cells. Draculia was known to seduce women by night in his expansive mansion in the Transylvanian mountains and so it is from this side as well as his seemingly vampiric nature that Edward Cullen is based. Collins seems to also be based on a lesser-known historical figure who goes by the name of Jonathan Claiborne. Claiborne was known to have two obsessions, the first being a strong compulsion to feel pure and seek religious guidance. The second conflicted with this in that it was a sexual fetish involving bleeding and biting. Certainly a strange composite, but what a character Edward Cullen is.
