Substitute Teacher Job Description

The public school system has always been short on personnel, and when teachers take sick this shortage becomes all the more apparent. As such, opportunities in substitute teaching have never been better. The general work listed on most substitute teacher job descriptions involves working with kids and keeping lessons going while the primary teacher is absent. To be an effective substitute teacher you need to be adaptable, able to quickly learn students’ names, inspired discipline, and quickly pick up what you need to teach. The general education requirements for substitute teachers ranges between a high school diploma and a college degree, depending upon the school in question. Being a substitute teacher is often a part-time job, but it can bring in an excellent supplemental income for those who enjoy working with children and teaching.
