NFL Referee Salary 2011

An NFL referee is regarded the highest position in football refereeing. An NFL refereeā€™s average salary in 2011 is in the range of $30,000 to $70,000. There are only 16 games played during a NFL season that is usually held between September and end of December or early January. To make up for the deficit in their income, NFL referees take up other jobs during the off-season. Referees are entrusted with the main job of enforcing certain rules and regulations during a game. A 7-official system is followed in a professional football match and each of them take different titles and positions based on the duties assigned such as referee, umpire, head linesman, line judge, field judge, side judge and back judge. Referees have the authority to notify penalties while supervising a game.
