Is Roast Beef Healthy?

Despite the common notion that red meat is bad for you, roast beef actually offers a range of health benefits when eaten in moderation. Roast beef is a good source of minerals such as zinc, selenium, phosphorus and iron, and B vitamins. Red meat is the most significant dietary source of carnitine and like pork, fish, or lamb, is a source of creatine. Rich in selenium and vitaminB12, lean beef helps to lower the risk of colon cancer. However, studies conducted by the World Cancer Research Fund in 2007 revealed that red meat and processed meats may cause bowel cancer, and urged people to eat less than 500 grams (18 oz) of cooked red meat in a week.
