Is Roast Beef Fattening?
Many people know that roast beef is often high in saturated fat. But does this translate into extra pounds? The calories contained in the fat and protein which makes up roast beef, while numerous, are hard to access during digestion. As a result roast beef is actually considerably less fattening than you might think. With that said, beef fat is very high in cholesterol, and so it is wise to trim all the fat and have it absolutely lean. The fat content in roast beef depends on how the beef was manufactured. If the beef is made lean, then it may not be all that fattening. Beef steers have slightly less fat and more muscle. The lungs and udder are considered unfit for human consumption in the US. The bones are used for making beef stock. The US is among the world’s largest exporters of beef.
