How much does a Professional NHL Hockey Referee make per Year? Average Annual Pro Hockey Ref Salary Range

NHL players are earning higher and higher salaries every year, but what about the referees? NHL referees are actually the highest paid of all the major league sports referees. The average NHL referee earns a salary of $139,000 per year. The range of salaries anywhere from $115,000-$225,000, depending largely upon years of experience. NHL refereeing is more of a full-time job than most other sports ref positions, and it requires a great deal more skill and involvement to perform.
