How Much Does a Boat Captain Make Per Year? Average Boat Captain Salary
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs for boat captains are expected to grow at the rate of 16% over the next several years. The salaries for boat captains increase in proportion to the size of the vessel they manage. A boat captain’s main duty is to oversee the boat during travel. They are employed in large numbers by support activities for water transportation. Other industries where boat captains work in sizeable numbers include inland water transportation, sightseeing transportation and federal executive branch. Oil and gas extraction pays the highest average salary to captains of water vessels at $90,000 a year. However, their average annual income is $75,000.
