How Much Does a Bilingual Teacher Make Per Year? Average Bilingual Teacher Salary

With more and more non-English speaking students entering schools, the general demand for bilingual teachers has gone up significantly, auguring well for this particular teaching community. Work location, experience, and size and type of the educational institution are among the primary factors that determine the income of a bilingual teacher in the US. On average, a bilingual teacher earns in the range of $45,000 to $50,000 yearly. Certification for bilingual teachers varies from one state to another. Illinois, California and Washington are states that specify certain requirements for granting certification. They are generally preferred in areas with a large population of ESL students. Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are expected to have a bachelor’s degree and pass the ESL test.
