Employment of hematologists, like other physicians, is expected to grow faster than for most other professions, increasing by up to 14% during the next five years. Those who gain specialty training and necessary experience are generally expected to meet with excellent employment prospects. On average, hematologists earn about $200,000 per annum and with a little bit of experience (at least 3 years) they can make $250,000. Hematologists are medical doctors that focus on the prevention, cause, diagnosis and treatment of blood conditions. They provide treatment for different blood conditions including anemia, sickle cell disease, hemophilia, infectious disease and protein deficiencies.
