Can you have a Pet Electric Eel? Legal Domesticated Electric Eels, Where are they for Sale?
The electric eel has been a subject of mystery and fascination ever since it was first discovered. With its capability of generating electrical charges to zap potential predators and prey, the electric eel seems like it would make an excellent pet. But what about the legal side of things? In most states and regions around the world, electric eels are legal to be kept as pets. Like all animals, if found in the wild it is illegal to trap them or capture them. When obtained from a licensed dealer, it is perfectly legal in most cases. You do need to bear in mind that their electrical shocks can be quite dangerous to their owner, although it is usually not fatal.
