Average Cost of a Home Addition 2011
A home addition can sometimes cost more than simply building a new home. This is because the addition has to match the existing structure. The biggest advantage you have in a home addition is that it helps to add desired space without moving to a new home. The cost of a home addition depends mainly on whether or not you engage a contractor and the quality of material used. Adding new floor space for a 400-sq ft family room in 2011 may cost up to $25,000 for a self project and between $50,000 and $100,000, if a contractor is hired. Similarly, the cost for a 10x15-ft bathroom may be $10,000 (self) and $30,000 (contractor).
