Average Cost of IUI in 2011

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is one of the most popular infertility treatments for childless couples. The procedure helps to increase sperm count and motility rate for men and ovulation in women. The average cost of IUI in 2011 is $500. While in some cases, an IUI may yield a result in the very first cycle, it may require many cycles in others. However, the success rate of IUI is 5 to 20%, which is much lower than the high-cost In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). The cost of IUI differs between different clinics and depending on the competition between fertility clinics in a particular area. The most expensive part of IUI is medication and the procedure includes sperm wash, blood tests and ultrasounds. Insurance coverage for infertility is not common.
