Are Beans Low Carb?

Beans are high in carbs because they have so much starch. Low-carb diets are neither healthy nor sustainable. Beans are a complex carbohydrate and your body takes time breaking them down and gets a huge amount of energy from them. Lentils give 22 g of net carbs per half cup, besides giving 22 g of fiber in the same serving. They have 16 g of protein and that is why vegetarians eat beans as replacement for meat. People with diabetes usually identify beans and legumes that are lower in carbohydrates. Dark color beans generally provide lower carb content.
