Are Beans Healthy?

Beans are nutritious and healthy. They have a lot of easily digestible protein, iron and fiber. At the same time, carbohydrates in beans are harder to digest, reducing their calorie content by a large amount. They also do not have as much saturated fat and cholesterol as found in meat. So beans are regarded as a healthy alternative for meat in the diet. Boiled pinto beans are healthier than the fried beans. Even though they have a lot of calcium, the fiber in them will facilitate a fast digestion. Half a cup of beans would be a serving and would contain about 100 calories.
