Are Beans Fattening?

Beans are not fattening. They are among the healthiest foods you can eat. Also, you get the similar quality of protein that you get in meat with only a fraction of the fat. When combined with whole grains such as brown rice, beans provide virtually fat-free high quality protein. Peas, beans and chickpeas together are known as legumes. Most common beans have 215 calories per cooked cup. They also have the most protein with the least fat of any food.
